@NanoRaptor "I shit in the milk"

@kate they seem incapable of assessing anything rationally. We now have an increasing number of US military bases in Australia, while the rest of the world reconsiders their place in it.
Labor is so attached to the status quo that they are willing to lock this country into decades of folly.
They will assess that "no it is the children who are wrong" from the Secret Harbour bi-election. Carry on, double down, etc.
What even is Labor?

the more homelessness there is, the more militarization there is. this country really doesn't know how to deal with homelessness by building homes, but it certainly knows how to respond with force and carcerality.
Former POTUS Jimmy Carter, was building homes with Habitat for Humanity into his 80s, at least (maybe also his 90s? I dunno.).
Heck, the guy put his peanut business into a trust while he was President, because he didn't want to be impugned with potential corruption allegations.
Carter also put solar panels on the White House (Reagan, took them down).
Presently, we have a POTUS who has his own cryptocurrency.
I suspect: Carter understood how dire things were for the homeless and what a failure the USA was at resolving that challenge, hence his continued contributions after he left office.
Meanwhile, Obama will apparently make public appearances and speak at your event for $400,000 to $600,000.
It appears as if he last helped paint a home with Habitat for Humanity, in 2009.
sigh
It's been 2 and a half years and I still don't get what's up with #Melbourne's utter lack of hardware stores. Is Bunnings the only place in this whole city to buy tools and stuff for home repairs?
Important rules for the "age verification" era of the internet that we're living in:
1. Do not do age verification.
2. If you have to do age verification, cheat. Do not under any circumstances give them your real ID.

I am *so* here for watching people advocate for their favourite map projections. This might be my favourite type of nerd debate.
Thank you, Fediverse.
(Also: https://xkcd.com/977/)
@sundogplanets I have never understood this “debate”. Every projection from a sphere to a plane distorts in some fashion but preserves some properties.
Pick the one that fits your needs at the moment and pick a different one when your needs change.

My favourite map of the world is ... a globe.
My family was not wealthy, but when I was a child we had, not just a world atlas with its flat maps, but a world globe made of cardboard (from Reader’s Digest, I think). So I did not grow up confused about the size of Greenland versus Africa.
So, let there be more cheap, cardboard world globes. And online, let there be more animated and interactive images of the world as it actually is: spherical. I’m as fascinated as anyone by the merits of different map projections, but most people are not 15th century navigators having to choose a projection for their flat paper charts.
One of my favorites from my collection! Unfortunately I have no date or info about who she was.

HERE he says it after telling what was good.
He says: "But then, in the 1970s, ....."
Its August 15th 1971 - the the only shock it needed, but otherwise accurate observation.

and the "whole new arsenal the rich could use against labour and the people" essentialy boil down to money printing 😁
...all the other arsenal are just sexond order effects from that which change over time based on what works and vibes...but the reason billiinaire class exists is NOT because they earn all the revenue, but because they print the money via VCs and myriads of other financial instrument architecture labels 🤷♀️ and then

@MichaelTBacon @beckett I'd sure love to see the Europe, Siberia, & Asia ones. The current Asia/Europe line is another recent obsession of mine.
@jhv @beckett People love to put it on the Ural River and if I ever actually write this up professionally there will be lots of disclaimers that these boundaries are negotiable to a degree.
But for me the line should be the Ural/Volga watershed line, which is a little crooked but places you straight onto the spine of the Ural Mountains.

The Trump-infected US Postal Service isn't just threatening to wreck mail-in voting. It's under way.
So we have to take our ballots to a dropbox or cast them in person.
In other words, the regime's election fuckery has worked, while the press ho-hummed as usual.

@dangillmor looks like they want to cause total chaos so they can then let #SCOTUS decide, who won ... let's hope the #GOPDefeat is total and complete.
Everyone knew that getting these guys out of power is going to be much harder than getting them in.

@stephanie I hope you have a great time!!
@idzie thank you!!
Lander, this is Houston. There's been a request that you turn clipping back on and instead set the mass to 1kg. The theorists believe that will be pretty funny.
